BIG BOOK of LYMPHOEDEMA FOR CHILDREN: This delightful book was produced by Jacquelyne Todd (author) and Open Door Design with the support of the Leeds Lymphoedema Service in the UK. The Big Book of Lymphoedema is designed for children with lymphedema aged between 1 and 10 years. It includes activities, information, practical help and advice with along with interactive elements (i.e. hidden doors and windows where more information can be found).

LYMPHEDEMA - UNDERSTANDING AND MANAGING LYMPHEDEMA AFTER CANCER TREATMENT, as its dust jacket suggests, is an up-to-date comprehensive guide to every aspect of lymphedema. Although this book contains some information which geared to an American audience operating in a U.S. health care system, most of the information is applicable to anyone who has an interest in learning more about lymphedema after cancer treatment.
It is well-balanced, reasoned and thorough, covering early diagnosis and cautions, treatment options, exercise and cost. The book even tackles the topic of clinical trials (The Future of Lymphedema) - flagging areas that are currently under review as well as others that may be undertaken in the future. A good introductory publication for patients at risk or those with existing lymphedema. Lots of personal stories and exercises. Some of the information in this book is a bit dated, especially as it relates to the use of extremity pumps which are helpful to some people with lymphedema and herbal remedies. Note to readers - the section on Coumarin (Benzo-pyrones) needs to be read with caution. This drug is not approved for sale in Canada because it has not been found effective and liver damage has been associated with its usage.
LYMPHEDEMA: What breast cancer patients need to know - was a project of the Thunder Bay Regional Health Sciences Centre, Regional Health Care and the Northern CAncer Research Foundation. 29 pages in length, the booklet is covers basis information on lymphedema, prevention, treatment and exercise accompanied by small picture. GETTING BACK ON TRACK AFTER TREATMENT: Life After Treatment - developed with the support of the Canadian Breast Cancer Foundation - Ontario Chapter, Princess Margaret Hospital, patients, survivors and community partners, 2004. Includes information from pages 13 to 19 on what lymphedema is, how to reduce your chances of developing lymphedema and how it is treated if lymphedema happens to you.
This patient education booklet on survivorship responds to the gap in support that many breast cancer patients have felt after completing their medical treatment. It is a comprehensive guidebook that uses non-medical terms to help patients cope with the physical, psychological and practical concerns they may face long after completion of active treatment. My Shocking Story - My Big Foot:
This documentary on Lymphedema was aired on The Learning Channel on January 27 at 9pm, and again on January 28 at 12am, 2008. It was produced by the Discovery Channel and was first shown on January 9, 2008 on TLC. Hidden Condition: Elephantiasis anguish in Ghana:
Filmed by BBC medical correspondent, Fergus Walsh, the film was shown in November 2006. It shows the disfiguring disease lymphatic filariasis, known as elephantiasis, which continues to cause misery in Africa despite medical advances. Doctors say they have the drugs to eliminate the illness but there is no money to distribute them. This report contains images viewers may find disturbing.
